Connect Adako to Codex
Use Adako directly inside Codex. Setup takes about a minute.
Steps
- Open a terminal in any project.
- Copy and run the add command below.Add Adako
codex mcp add adako --url https://adako.ai/mcp - Copy and run the login command, then complete the authorization screen in your browser.Sign in
codex mcp login adako - Start a new Codex session and ask Codex to use Adako.

Ask for something read-only first. This call is free and changes nothing.
Using Adako, tell me which ad accounts are connected.You should get back what is connected, which account is active, and two or three prompts worth trying next. If nothing is connected yet, the answer says so and links to the Accounts page.
Connection not working?
Confirm that the saved URL ends in /mcp, then run codex mcp login adako again. The server must be reachable through public HTTPS and support Streamable HTTP.
"codex is not recognized" on Windows?
The installer does not always put Codex on the PowerShell PATH. It lives at %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\OpenAI\Codex\bin\codex.exe — run it with & "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Programs\OpenAI\Codex\bin\codex.exe", or add that folder to PATH for the session with $env:Path += ";$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Programs\OpenAI\Codex\bin".
Sitting on "Running hooks"?
That is Codex waiting for one of your own hooks in ~/.codex/hooks.json, not for Adako — run /mcp and you will see adako still connected with its 29 tools. A hook that reads standard input (a curl with --data-urlencode "payload@-", for example) waits forever when the host leaves stdin open. Press esc, then retry with the hook disabled to see the difference.
"Exceeded skills context budget"?
Codex ran out of room for skill descriptions, usually because several MCP servers are connected at once — Adako adds 29 tools, and one other server can add hundreds. Turn off the servers you are not using for that session; Adako needs no skill file to work.
When a write comes back as a proposal
Under the inbox policy, a write returns a proposal id and a diff instead of a result. Say “approve it” in the chat, or open Approvals and approve it there. Under direct, your confirmation in the chat is the approval.
